Saturday Lunch: Calzones

I’m making a family favorite today, Homemade Calzones.

  • Marinara Sauce
  • Pizza Toppings of your choice
  • 2 1/4 cups Flour (I used bread flour but you can use all purpose)
  • 1 packet Fleischman's Pizza Yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 cup Water (warm)
  • 3 tablespoons Olive Oil

1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
2. Combine 1 cup of flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add water and oil. Mix until well blended (about one minute)
3. Gradually add, enough of the remaining flour until a soft dough ball is formed. The dough should be slightly sticky.
4. Knead on a floured surface until the dough is smooth and elastic (about 4 minutes)
5. Separate the dough into 4 sections.
Flatten or roll out the dough into 6 inch circles.
6. Fill with sauce toppings and cheese in the center of the circle. Fold the dough over and seal the edges by turning the bottom edge over the top.
7. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until golden.
8. I drizzle a little olive oil on the outside once it comes out and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and Garlic.

Hope you enjoy!
